10 Weeks and Happy New Year's Eve! (2013)

Next week is my first doctors appointment with my OB! Hoping to see a sneak peak of this little bundle!

Reflection of 2012: My most memorable time was all our camping trips we got to do with just our family but also with new friends! Also Hunter as he has learned new things such as going potty like a big boy, new words, and just his little personality shining through! Kylee for the young girl she is becoming! She is growing up just so quickly! I am thankful this year for our family growing even larger next year! Goodbye 2012!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and are ready for 2013! Amazing how fast the year's fly by the older you get! Have you thought about a New Year's Resolution? I am usually not a huge resolution fan but this resolution below is what I have and will continue to strive doing. Life is too short for people to knock you down and discourage you and not see the good in you. I am ready to just have those positive influences in my life this year! I look forward to 2013 and what God has in store! I encourage you to do the same as what is written below! Fill you life with encouragement, joy and positive friendships!

My Personal Soap Box: Sometimes it is better just to bite your tongue!

The past few months I have been a little less involved in just activities that are in a "group" setting. I will go out with couples with Colin and just hang out in that fashion but anything else seems to bring drama! It is funny how people forget all the things you have done for them and the actions you have taken to support them in the past through some rather personal and difficult times they have faced but when it comes to someone else other than them they totally become jealous, discouraging and just distant. After awhile it just gets plain exhausting to deal with! I am not perfect but I dont really like when people with their own issues try to point the blame in your direction rather than looking at themselves and really trying to work on themselves. I have been having to bite my tongue to the rather obvious attitudes that are being shoveled out lately especially with the announcement of us expecting. God didn't put us on this earth to discourage and treat others like poop! People really need to get over it and really look at how they treat others. I am honestly tired of being the bad guy...I have been there for people during losses, sorrow, financial trials, heartbreak, marriage, divorce and their own lack of seeing their worth in this life. I have always been a phone call away and came running when they needed someone and no one was there to talk to, to understand them, to encourage them etc. I can honestly say I truly have one friend that has been there for me and I for her for many years. She has helped me through my divorce as I have helped her with her own marriage struggles, she was there for the birth of my child as I was for her, we have laughed, cried and enjoyed each others company for many years. We dont talk everyday, we dont see each other even weekly but we know that we are not far away from each other. To me this is friendship and I hope you read this and get inspired to be a better friend and to look at what others have done for you cause they cared about you not because they were jealous or discouraging or wanted to benefit themselves in some way. How people treat each other is rather sad so sometimes all you can do it bite your tongue and pray for them that their heart will become tender towards others.

"We can’t fix whatever hurt caused them to lash out. But we can decide to stay calm and not compound the hurt. “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.” (Proverbs 15:1-2)

Overindulgence...........makes me feel bleh!

Well Friday I decided to take a trip to the grocery store and while I was there I felt the need to buy the following... two packages of oreos- one mint and one peanut butter, three packages of sweet tarts, two packages of baked cookies from the bakery- sugar cookies and oatmeal raisin, and a bag of licorice! Yes I bought ALL that in one little shopping trip where I was picking up some cabbage, onions and vinegar. I let my pregnancy brain and cravings take over. That night I indulged greatly in all this and that night about 2am I woke up and felt the urge to just vomit it all up! I felt so sick! It was like a food hangover. I choked down any desire to just release all that stuff and fell back to sleep but it waking me up a couple more times after that. I woke up with a horrid headache and just felt over all sick and gross. I thought NEVER AGAIN will I do that...I haven't felt that way during this pregnancy thus far and now I know why I haven't...cause I dont usually eat like this! I made myself go to the gym and do a cycling class and lift weights and felt a little better after that but I guess I forgot about my horrible night before and once again over indulged! I dont know what had happened to me that I would forget what this type of food did to me but yep I sure did it all over again! My headache never went away and I still have it as I type this. On top of all that I gained seven pounds! Yes you say but your pregnant this is ok to gain weight NOT five pounds in two days your first trimester! Holy Moly! So I am back on the band wagon no more of that nonsense! I can't be giving my baby that kind of non nutritious food and I dont want to fall back on what I have worked so hard to accomplish which is healthy eating habits. I had to spend some time in prayer and asking God to help me refocus my direction of why I eat the way I do not because I want to be thin but because this is how God wishes that we take care of our bodies so that we have the energy to witness and be of service to others! So I will pray for you as you pray for me as I get back to focusing on what food is provided for.

"Food for Thought"

Just wanted to share this and her website she is so inspirational! I follow her daily!

"When someone criticizes we must quickly discern if they are trying to help us or hurt us. If it’s hurtful, realize their criticism says a lot more about their insecurities than our inadequacies."

We can’t fix whatever hurt caused them to lash out. But we can decide to stay calm and not compound the hurt. “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.” (Proverbs 15:1-2)

Here is her website: http://lysaterkeurst.com/

She is also the author of "Made to Crave" which is a study I did in my growth group at church over the fall. She taught about how food shouldn't be our focus when we are sad, angry, happy etc or first reaction should be to go pray, give glory to God and realize that our blessings come from him. Food is only a "quick" satifaction in our human life but God is an eternal satisfaction.
