Valentine's Day Cards for School...

So every year for the past couple of years Kylee and I have made some sort of unique Valentine's Day cards for her school. I am not a huge fan of the cheesy candy cards that EVERYONE gives out so for us this year we made melted crayons! I wanted to make them heart shape but I was too last minute on this project and with us being sick and barely able to get out of the house to get milk I just used my round tin instead. This is extremely easy to do and also a good project if you have alot of broken crayons laying around the house that you want to salvage.

 

I bought a box of 94 crayons and I used most of them to make the 26 valentines. An easy trick to get the paper off is you just put the crayons in warm water with some soap and they come right off. You let them dry a little and then you just break them into the size of pieces that will fit in your tin. It is best to use a silicone mold if you have that instead but I didn't so I did spray mine with pam even though it is not suppose to stick...I wanted to make sure it didn't. I baked them at 250 degress for 10 minutes (or until they are melted) and I just pulled the tray out and kept my oven open or I would have splashed them all over the place. So once they are cooled you can put some cold water on them and they should slide right out into cute little, colorful crayon circles.  

 

 

I had left over card decor (sparkly hearts) so I just wrote on the back of them "You color my world" and I did use super glue to make them stay on. I was thinking by the time they traveled to the school the next morning they could be quite a mess and not attached anymore. Since I was short on time I did all of these cards this year but Kylee likes and appreciates all my hard work. (You can also just trace and cut out hearts from cardstock)

 

And VOILA! All done! 26 cards later!
